Canvas in the Night

The night sky once again awaits
To be a canvas of the soul;
A world of dreams it will portray,
As all the stars I now control. ǀ Fine

I take a breath and paint the moon,
A regal vision—only her;
A smile now waltzes on my lips:
The queen will reign from dusk till dawn.

I take the paintbrush yet again
And paint a dance of falling stars;
They travel to the ends of Earth;
Although new-born, they travel far.

I paint a sea of gleaming gold
And watch the waves send warming light
Towards the world I hold so dear,
That’s never been so still and bright.

And, star by star, my universe
Turns into galaxies of dreams.
I paint and paint—the canvas full,
Awakening forgotten tears.

I paint until the morning sun
Sends rays of daylight from afar.
My painting fades, I close my eyes;
I will return and cover scars.

Among the Stars

Barefoot I stand on golden sand,
While tender waves caress my skin.
Their coldness I can understand,
For they are made of foam and sin.

I see the sky of velvet dark,
A graceful veil painted with stars;
A fairytale with endless sparks,
I wish that I could reach that far.

In trembling hands, I hold my light:
A lampion with my own name.
I light it up: tremor, delight
I feel now pulsing in my veins.

I watch in awe as it ascends,
Hoping to reach that paradise,
Hoping that it will reach the end
Before the early sunrise comes.

A summer breeze blows gentle air:
Lampion raising in the night,
Meeting no storm and no delay
And leaving me far, far behind.

It takes its place among the stars
And I’m at peace, gazing at, now,
A fairytale that came alive,
Defying when and why and how.

I smile and feel the universe,
Surrounded by a sea of suns.
I stand in silence, with no words
Until the crack of dawn arrives…

Stars of Snow

I step out in the winter night,
With cloudy sky and empty streets.
Snowflakes descend to give me light
And all of them I watch and greet.

I know them and they know me, too:
We’ve met before in hopeful dreams.
Destined to meet, we won’t undo
The fate which now above us gleams.

I welcome them with beating heart,
Receiving happiness within;
Their falling dance becomes true art
And, thus, my being they redeem.

The flame inside now coexists
With shining stars of what is pure.
They’re one—a blissful masterpiece,
Salvation and a sweet allure.

Guiding Stars

Amidst the darkness of the forest,
I look up at the sky above.
My mind keeps dreaming, I am restless,
As stars keep talking about love.

They show me greatness, keep me anchored
To worlds outside—and one within.
I gaze at them and they are faithful,
They lead me to the state I dream.

They tell me secrets, sacred whispers,
Enlighten me with wisdom—words;
I love myself despite my shadows,
Another fate thus now unfolds.

Accepting weakness, finding greatness,
I’ve now evolved—another creed.
And just like stars, I shine in darkness,
Knowing myself—I have been freed.
